Seeing the world through Monet eyes

The world is a beautiful, abundant place and even if you’ve never left your hometown, you can view stunning photographs from around the globe with just a click and the right key word. There certainly is no lack of quality scenic views and landscape photography available to anyone with curiosity.

After a 40-year advertising photography career, producing high-quality photographs was not a challenge for Joe Gemignani. He could have easily provided dozens, even hundreds or thousands of beautiful photographs of our travels for this blog, but it wasn’t in his heart to pop another good or even great shot. He yearned to produce what he really saw when he looked through his lens: the world as art.

What Joe sees

As a writer, the best way I can explain it is to say that a good picture is like a good book. You can skim the pages to find out what happens, or you can read slowly, looking for a deeper, underlying message. Visual artists seek to reveal the hidden beauty that is often overlooked by those of us with less-trained eyes.

Gemignani Photo Artistry is the culmination of years of photography experience coupled with the eye and techniques of the Master painters. The resulting image is a unique rendering of the world through an artist’s eyes.

Contemplating Heaven

Very often in our travels I find myself separated from him as I face the obvious beautiful scene, along with most other visitors. Usually as I search around for him, he’ll be facing the opposite direction, looking at… what? I crane my neck and search to see, but rarely can figure out what or why he’s shooting until he downloads his images onto the computer.

And it’s truly not until he has finished transforming the photograph (which I always think is great to begin with, but I’m probably a little biased) that I can see what he saw…because what Joe sees is only in his mind until he creates the imagery that begins as a photograph and becomes artwork.

Our deepest desire is that through the photo artistry and stories on this blog, you’ll get a sense of the real and surreal beauty that is all around us. Much of the artwork on this site is for sale at Gemignani Photo Artistry, including the Featured Image on the Home page. However, if you are interested in an image that is not yet available at that link, please use the Contact page to let us know the image you want and we’ll send you the information you need. You can also view all of Gemignani Art Photography on his website.
